Do you believe in Hell?

I’ll bet a certain New York Governor does!

As we look into the life of Governor Spitzer - and this one doesn’t seem to want to go away - we see that he, like so many before him, got wrapped up in the power of office and found that he was lacking. Just like so many others but what was the difference this time around?

Bill Clinton is shouting out how he supports his wife in the presidential race - but he was involved in a scandal just a few years ago. We all saw it, but he recovered.

So what makes these men, and I would say women, go off the rails?

A good story here.

So is it all about the power? I am sure that politicians are not that sex crazed - just human. Should we, as those who vote for them, forgive and forget? But as politicians have been held up as an example and clearly failed over the years - why do we still act so shocked when something like this comes out.

As the feminists will say - “Leave him!’ Yet there have been a few who are women in the world of scandal and sex, but as I am going PC over this weekend, I won’t say that - it is men and men alone who can be corrupt in such a way as to what to have a shag with a 22 year old woman who just happens to be a singer of mediocre standard.

Should we blame social networking?

I think women are very aware that these things happen if they choose to be with wealthy and powerful men. If mrs. spitzer didn’t actually know, it was likely a denial type thing. I mean, he gave her a life on easy street. she quit her job to basically take care of almost adult teens??? Come on, it’s a little hard to feel bad for someone who’s lived such a privileged life.

The Bill and Hillary thing, I bet they’ve had an open marriage for many, many years and are only still “married” because politicians have to be.

Spitzer will move on to other things - like defending those he used to prosecute. He has a vested interest in that now, Steve.

His wife will live in her upper-suburban way and she will `forgive`him for what he has done, probably allowing him to have his fling with any number of young women as long as he come home at night.

That is the nature of power politic.

I know no one will probably agree with me. But who cares? They got caught. It’s not like no one else does it. As long as they footed the bill, and not the tax-payer.

All this hype over sex while 90% of the public and media ignore the shambles our governments are getting us into.

If we could have a government that was truly interested in the and well-being of the public and their own Country, they could shag 50 prostitutes for all I care.

    I agree with you - I don’t care either.

Those that do are the ones who have taken great delight in the downfall of celebs like Miss Spears. The gossiping class who have taken over our media.

Spitzer did what he did, and was a hypocrite - but where do you see the media fighting for privacy for the individual - you don’t, because that would mean that they would then not be allowed to print private phone calls, emails, and anything else they see fit - I am sure that was what was meant by freedom of the press, but I could be wrong.

Have feminists been coming out stating the Ashely/Kristin is some kind of oppressed victim? I think she’s going ot be on Barbara walters, she’s sold ungodly amounts of her songs, and Penthouse offered her $1,000,000 to take her clothes off. If anything, this will just set a horrible example for young girls to follow. Look! I can be a prostitute and then get lots of media attention and a record deal! I really hate to say the right wing religious fundies have a point, but sometimes they really do.

This is the irony of it, Steve.

As the saying goes, any publicity is good publicity.

Well, I would think to someone who’s got mental issues any publicity is good publicity. I certainly wouldn’t want to be famous because of something notorious about me. I’ve noticed middle aged women doing more and more outrageous things just to get any kind of attention now that they aren’t young, attractive women anymore. That’s really sick. I mean, I know of someone who decided to take off her clothes and walk around a mall naked, and relished the attention while getting arrested.. That’s mental illness. i don’t think society should be rewarding such behavior by giving these people what they want, attention.

Great, now we have kristin/ashely, we have Pretty Woman, now girls will think being a prostitute is okay, and then a rich guy will marry you, or you get a record deal, and whatever stupid decisions =you made won’t haunt you. Ugh.. there’s no hope for society.

It does seem there is no hope - but when the public stops wanting this stuff it will end.

That - will be a long wait.

I’ve been busy lately but have been meaning to post here for a few days after I read it.

I hope no one takes it the wrong way. I don’t advocate prostitution in any way. But it will never go away. It is the oldest profession. The men want it, the women provide it. End of story.

What gets me is how information like this (and far worse: pocketing money, bribes…the list goes on) is held for a rainy day. Everyone in politics knows what is happening and they do nothing about it until the time is right for them to make it public. If there was ONE, even one party or person, truly working for the people then why wouldn’t they do something about it right away?

2nd. I just don’t agree with seeing something like “Pretty Woman” and saying to myself: “Wow, I want to do that!” Or watching Monica and this new chick becoming what some would call “famous” and thinking what a great opportunity for me.

Maybe like you say, a younger person is impressionable, but by the time they reach a certain age, they will be their own person. And be responsible for their own choices in life. You’re not giving enough credit to young women, they do have brains and I don’t think media would be the reason someone chose that path. An attention seeker, is an attention seeker. And it is that type of person who’ll likely fall for that trap. Don’t block everyone into that category.

Besides; I think many of these people, men and women are paid or bribed in some way to do what they did. Maybe not in these cases. Politicans should know this by know and keep it in their pants. My goodness, they’ve been setting people up like this forever, you’d think they’d catch on. And these guys are running Countries!

Geez….if there was a site where people could put just the “true facts” of what they personally know about corruption in unions, police, government and corporations. It would be endless. Just the things I know, I could write a book! I’m one person.
