On CNN, which as some may have noticed, I watch quite a bit, a commercial with Nancy Pelosi and Newt saying something about saving the planet on a park bench - I presume in Washington, DC. Why she doesn’t hit him with her purse I don’t know - but he must have hit her with his!
She says:
Asked if she could see any path to victory for Clinton, Pelosi said, “You never know in elections.”
What!? Did he have a house brick in it when he hit you, Nancy?
“I understand that some people are getting a little nervous, and I have to say that there really is no cause for nervousness, because we will have a unified Democratic Party,” she said. “I will work my heart out for the nominee of our party, and I believe that Sen. Obama will work as hard as he can for the nominee of our party.”
Is that a slip or are the super-delegates going for Clinton no matter what?

Please dont quit Hillary !!!!!!!!!!!I support you 100 percent .There is no way I will ever cast a vote for that barack hussein.so it is either you or mccain

I read at WRH that there some hinting that if she doesn’t get the votes, she will send her people over to McCain.
If this is true, shouldn’t that raise a red flag? Shouldn’t that have people wondering just where her loyalty is?
But then again, if they are supporting her….I guess it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they just might be sheeple enough to actually do it.
Vote Ron Paul instead!

Obama will never win in Nov. Those that believe he can thinks this is a fairy tale. If you think that someone with the ties Obama has can win against a war vet like McCain, you must have been born yesterday! Kerry lost in ‘04 and his credentials were much stronger, he was a war vet, and didn’t have the radical ties that Obama does.
Instead the Democratic Party is trying to offer us a man that has accomplished nothing, and has stood for nothing other than himself.
He supported the 2005 & 2006 Bush Spending Bills, The Bush Yucca Mountain Nuclear Storage Project, and remained a member of a “church” that was headed by a man who delivered inflammatory, hateful and offensive “sermons” to his congregation. Obama says he was unaware of these sermons, which is an insult to mine and every thinking American’s intelligence.
A Barack nomination is a foolish mistake by the Democratic Party, and an act of betrayal to the American People and the members of the Democratic Party.
Either it’s Hillary or leave the Party and register as Green!

Obama will win. If it was Hillary leading surely the party elders would have have insisted Obama drop out. Why so much of favouritism for Hillary and her excuses.

So, one should be a war vet to be president? That’s just what we need, more war. Doesn’t anyone see the pit the US is falling into?
No one wants to see the US in the situation it is in now. I’m Canadian and virtually everything that happens in the US has an effect on us. They need someone to get it back to the place it was meant to be.
People are living in tents right now. People are losing their homes by the thousands while millions upon millions are spent on war. The funeral homes are doing well with our soldiers, arms companies are happy. Politicians have no idea what it is like to be average and suffer.
The Clinton/Bush era should end quickly. They have done enough damage. The economy will continue crumbling if things don’t change soon. Most of us have family in the states and care about the situation they are in.
The first thing that should be done is to get rid of those voting machines!

Never a wiser word spoken!
The problem is - they are going to try the damn things out in the UK! >(

He spent years a POW, I think he is pretty qualified to assess the need for military action (IE, he knows the ACTUAL costs involved and can weigh them). So no, I do not see anything wrong with our country.
I would say we are safer today due to the Iraq war (keeps terrorists fighting there, not here on our soil). In addition, our economy is not in such bad shape. And prior to this recent downturn it was in great shape.
thebeadden // May 10, 2008 at 5:03 pm
Weighing cost should not even be an issue if the reason the war being fought is a valid one. Not one of propaganda.
I f you think the economy is doing well. Then you are either rich or working in a field that profits from war. You are not the majority, or the average citizen I was talking about.
Far safer? Okay.

The economy is not a disaster:
He did better with the economy than many people give him credit for, considering what he had to deal with. I also never said that times are easy now - I said we were in a downturn, but one I do not believe will lead to a full blown recession.
How do you think we are less safe now? We have foiled multiple attacks and occupied terrorists with fighting overseas. Are you somehow trying to say sitting on our asses and doing nothing would have been better?
thebeadden // May 10, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Tell that to the people working 2 or 3 part-time jobs. Part-time jobs created so they don’t have to give benefit packages to the people that work for them. Tell that to the thousands of people that have already lost their homes. And keep thinking that as they push the SPP aka NAU.
As for your last question. I believe there is plenty enough information out there right now to educate yourself. I won’t do your homework. But as you obviously feel quite passionate about your statement, as I do mine. I doubt anything I have to say would make a difference. And you are free to have your own opinion on the matter.
Tino // May 11, 2008 at 3:00 pm
All I asked is for you to explain your position (that we are less safe now). I am not going to tool around the internet trying to figure out what your personal position is. If you wish to simply drop it all that is fine I will just stop visiting this discussion…
thebeadden // May 11, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Sorry Tino. Don’t leave on my account. It is nice being able to discuss things in a place where people aren’t ranting. I should watch my manners.
I just don’t get why the war is in Iraq. They had nothing to do with 9/11. Nor were they about to attack the United States.
This was one of the places in the middle east where women could dress how they wished. A University education was FREE for both men and women.
Women could walk around and feel safe. Now they are afraid of being raped, told to dress a specific way. I do not see where Iraq has become a better place for the people. So I imagine now, there are a few mighty pissed off people.
In short, I don’t think there was anything to fear from Iraq. Now maybe there will be.
Tino // May 12, 2008 at 12:33 am
Ok, that seems like a fair argument to me, especially where you point to attitudes toward women regressing. I do not, for example, understand why we allowed them to enshrine such sharia-driven law.
I guess I mean safer overall in that now terrorists are focusing on fighting in Iraq, as we are. This ideally keeps them from striking us at home again. I suppose I am most concerned about what happens when we are done there and they can recoup and refocus on attacking USA turf again.
thebeadden // May 12, 2008 at 11:15 pm
When you said “we allow” …I don’t know. I don’t think it is our our place to tell other people what to do when our own Countries have issues that need to be dealt with. There is nothing like ignoring your own Country while enforcing your will in another. Especially in a Country that was not a threat at all on your own turf.
Too many innocent people have died. That makes people angry. So what was accomplished? Making more enemies?
I don’t get the logic. If either Hillary or McCain win, there will be more war, and more suffering Americans. Is that a good thing?
