The Will Rhodes Portmanteau

And back we go, dilly-dally, hey-ho!

I absolutely LOVE history.

History is something we can look back on and try, at least, to learn something. But, as we have seen so many times, we don’t. I have no idea why - must be that human thing in us - and why we need an alien invasion of Earth - no, I’m serious!

Only then would we as a species come together as one and fight off the highly advanced aliens.

Well I can dream!

It seems that once again - through the oil bonanza - the Cold war is making a comeback.

It will be 25 years of he said/she said and a massive build-up of troops and arms with the civilian population stuck in the middle with you.

Ah - the good old days!

I couldn’t agree more. It’s downright frightening that we aren’t evolved enough as a species to learn from our mistakes. I am sure that if aliens were to approach earth, people would likely unite in an effort to blast them to smithereens, before bothering to find out their intentions. I’d like to think we will eventually evolve into more intelligent and peaceful creatures, but there’s no signs of it happening any time soon.

Along the same topic, in an interview I recently conducted with “How Not to Write a Novel” authors Howard Mittelmark and Sandra Newman, we concluded with the following:

Damian: Do you have any predictions or endorsements for the upcoming U.S. presidential election?

HM & SN: We’re both okay with either of the Democratic candidates. We disagree about how it’s going to turn out, but are looking forward to regime change no matter what form it takes. A traditional election, sure, that’s good. But an invasion from Canada, fine, we’ll take it. A military coup. Alien overlords. Anything. Please.

They were a riot, and so was the book. You can find a review and the rest of the interview on my blog, the Damian Daily.

    Here we go again…

I’m sorry, that was tastelessly flippant. But it’s exasperating how we (the human race) never seem to learn from history. And you know what they say about those who do not learn from history…

    Quip from the article:
“Russia itself has been the subject of similar disputes. In February, Russian bombers flew over a U.S. aircraft carrier in the Pacific, prompting the U.S. to scramble fighters to escort the Russian aircraft.”

I could be mistaken, but wasn’t that the time Russia had let the US know in advance they would be doing this exercise and the media made it seem like they had “to scramble” jets after them? Like they were taken by surprise.

I’ll hunt that article down if I find it I’ll let you know. I had saved it but many times the articles are no longer available. WRH might have it though.

Lisa, we’ll come save you! :)

Aliens, I don’t know….I know it’s a big place. I’m just not sold on the concept though.
