Over-priced Gas?

May 17, 2008 · 8 Comments

From my first chats on the internet, many moons ago, to this day I still cannot get some - a majority at that - of Americans to understand that their gas is cheap, and I mean really, really cheap!

Even when you take into account the US gallon compared to the imperial gallon and the difference in the litre, it is still a very cheap commodity in comparison to the UK.

$4 is nothing! Try $9.25 a gallon! That is how much it is in the UK.

So, as the price is over inflated will this mean that Americans will move away from their gas-guzzling monstrosities to a more mundane - yet fuel efficient - vehicle?

Yes it seems.

Sales of name-brand scooters such as Honda, Yamaha, Vespa and Suzuki rose 24 percent in the first quarter of the year, said Mike Mount, spokesman for the Motorcycle Industry Council trade group — noting that it’s not exactly a hot sales period because of cool weather in much of the nation.

Maybe with the whiff of a respite in the near future the American motorist should reach further than the recommended 35 MPG as proposed. That will, in all probability, mean smaller engined cars - but it will also mean that the oil companies will need to sell their product cheap, and keep it cheap. Supply will outstrip demand for a very long time.

People are complaining about paying $4 a gallon? Some people don’t know how lucky they are.

But if scooters are more fuel efficient, this can only be a good thing. Less harmful to the environment, as well as the wallet.

North America should be getting cheap fuel. Canada has no excuse for the cost, we are rich in resources here. NAFTA screwed that one for us. It’s BS if you ask me.

When people complain to me about the price of gas here in the US I remind them that it’s still cheaper than bottled water, orange juice and beer (the complainants are almost always beer drinkers).

I used to be able to say it’s cheaper than a gallon of milk, but they’re about the same now.

No way UK !!! Canada here.
-I was just speaking with a freind of mine from UK.
-your Health, dental,… is far superior than ours
    now.
-your “wages” are higher then ours….
I mean, all in all maybe its about the same.
-so stop your whining and focus on the issues here.

    Price of GAS !

EVERY “cheap”(aka FREE) alternative-fuel inventor (all great Americans) are ALL dead !
-or atleast the ones who posed the greatest threat to American/Arabian OIL interests.

Americans are the same people who voted BUSH back in? NEED I say more ?

if anything by “raping” Iraq the oil/gas for everyone should be atleast half the price now.

Sooooo, thanks again for shooting yourselves (bullets supplied by NARA) in the foot once again AMERICA !!!
and CANADA ?, well obviously we always follow the Americans.

    Price of gas my azzzz.
Instead, look to some fellow mechanic freinds and maybe we should all just settle down and do what “Stanley Meyer” did -make a standard car engine run on water.
There are SOOO many alternatives. -it just takes guts people -plain good ‘ole hard work and guts. -oh and about $500 for the parts. :)

    and,
    http://waterpoweredcar.com/stanmeyer.html

STOP your whining -we deserved what we all GOT !!

-enjoy it and keep payin’ for it you Lemmings.

Edit: Meyer’s claims about the Water Fuel Cell and the car that it powered were found to be fraudulent by an Ohio court in 1996

    ya, I hear ya.
but the point is “Brown’s GAS” which is what Meyer was trying to reproduce cheaply from water does run a starndard ICE.
    -thats the point.
