I should change the name of this blog…

May 13, 2008 · 6 Comments

to something like - The Will Rhodes Cynic Page. Because - that is exactly what I am.

This story brought about a voluble “DUH!” as I read it. I cannot believe how dumb people can be sometimes - it really does amaze me. One of the Scary Movie’s Movie’s had on it, ‘I see Dumb people’ - quite apt!

Now you may ask why? (more…)

Tee-Hee

No - this is serious, a man who is willing to commit 150,000 troops to a far off country for 100 years says:

We stand warned by serious and credible scientists across the world that time is short and the dangers are great

Think he is talking about the poor troops who will be blasted to death in Iraq?

Wrong!

He talking about ‘Cap and Trade’ to reduce the carbon emissions that the US throws out each year.

Stuff the soldiers - we need the victory in Iraq.

Lost his bearings? Lost his marbles more like!

HAHAHA - now that’s the way to do it

May 12, 2008 · 2 Comments

Half his car should have been taxed? WTF!?

Explanation of what car tax is - it’s called the road fund license and you need to renew this each year or you are in for a heavy fine or losing your car. The costs vary you will have to read this link.

A man has sawn his car in half with an angle-grinder in protest at it being clamped outside his home.

Ian Taylor, from Tredworth, Glos, said the untaxed Ford Fiesta was parked on his drive with only part of a rear wheel poking out on to the pavement.

The 40-year-old builder said the vehicle was going to be scrapped anyway, but he wanted to make a point.

A spokesman for NCP Services said half of the car was parked on the road and should therefore have been taxed.

Will it matter?

May 10, 2008 · 6 Comments

W Virginia will be a landslide for Clinton and no one is disputing that.

End of story.

Kentucky - just about the same.

Obama is ahead in one story and two behind in another in the super-delegate race.

All this means is that the Clinton campaign gets more cash from her - because that campaign is broke and the race goes on another three weeks or so.

Obama is still the winner.

And back we go, dilly-dally, hey-ho!

May 10, 2008 · 8 Comments

I absolutely LOVE history.

History is something we can look back on and try, at least, to learn something. But, as we have seen so many times, we don’t. I have no idea why - must be that human thing in us - and why we need an alien invasion of Earth - no, I’m serious!

Only then would we as a species come together as one and fight off the highly advanced aliens.

Well I can dream!

It seems that once again - through the oil bonanza - the Cold war is making a comeback.

It will be 25 years of he said/she said and a massive build-up of troops and arms with the civilian population stuck in the middle with you.

Ah - the good old days!

Timmy’s!

May 9, 2008 · 2 Comments

Americans don’t like Timmy’s - I have no idea why because it is fabulous!

But even Tim Hortons comes under scrutiny - but why for the love of God should it be for firing an employee giving a kid a Timbit?

Nicole Lilliman, 27, said she was fired Wednesday for giving one of the 16-cent treats to a regular customer with a small child.

Thankfully she was rehired, with an apology.

Timbit’s are cool by the way!

(This is from a guy who is biased - I LOVE Timmy’s!!)

Time on his hands?

I have enough with one wife - I have no idea what a man can do with 21 of them, I think he must be a fitness freak of some kind!

By his own account, Nielsen has 21 wives — and 36 children.

His oldest wife is 13 years older than he is, and his youngest wife is 43 years younger — she’s just 24.

His oldest child is 21 years old, and his youngest is a 6-month-old baby.

That’s one of the longer, single-family genealogies uncovered in a CNN review of the “Bishop’s List” — a series of documents listing the age, marital status, children and address of the members of the Yearning for Zion polygamist ranch in Eldorado, Texas.

The ranch is owned by the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a Mormon offshoot that practices polygamy.

Hi babe - let’s get naked

May 6, 2008 · 2 Comments

I think that the USA is becoming a quaint country - well some of it is.

You have to love some of the likeable stories that come out of there - stories of life-changing decisions like this one.

Two people in the latter part of the middle of their lives change their views on everything due to one act of need, a need to change how they live. So American don’t you think?

I’m a sceptic though!

Had it not been for her husband’s dramatic suggestion, Nancy, 53, says she might never have discovered nudism, which is now a source of joy in her life — and career. Shortly after their trip, the couple launched Bare Necessities Tour and Travel, a travel agency devoted to the nudist vacationer. It has since chartered more than 40 cruise ships carrying more than 25,000 nudist travelers.

Good bit of free advertising never does anyone any harm.

If you want to get into nudism - fair-do’s! Up to you sort of thing. But make sure you put the sunblock on the sensitive areas!

I thought everyone did this…

May 6, 2008 · 2 Comments

Let me say right off the bat - I am from Yorkshire. And being from Yorkshire means you like to save a few pennies, “Watch the pennies and the Pounds will take care of themselves” a worthwhile Yorkshire saying to live by.

But all that said I have just read this story and I thought that everyone did all these things by default - I must be wrong.

Consider where you get your car serviced. Instead of going to your dealership for repairs, try going to an independent garage, says Phillip Reed of Edmunds.com, an online automotive Web site.

Quite true - in fact, NEVER go to a dealership! They will gouge you every time! And learn to get your hands dirty! You can do the routine maintenance on a car yourself - and that is free labour!

When you do an oil change - I do it twice a year, before winter and before summer, that’s it - but do read the owners manual as see when the car needs it. Urban myth aside - your car doesn’t need new oil every 3000 miles and that will save you a few bucks.

Insurance rates are rising for the first time since 2006, according to Insurance.com, an online insurance agency. But there are ways to cut your premium.

Simply put - insure your car/vehicle for what you need! There is no point in having everything covered when you don’t need it - and it saves you a fortune! One thing with premiums going up, people are way too loyal to their insurance broker or company, shop around! Others brokers and companies want your business!!!

And do drivers ed. It does make a real difference. Even if you have been driving with a full license for years, do it and the premium should come down.

Simple things that are not too time intrusive can save you a lot of money. Don’t pay out for what you don’t need!

Any more tips - add them here ———V
