Hillary Clinton won W VA - not that is was any surprise, not that anything about her dwindling campaign is a surprise. She won a state that a friend of mine calls bigoted.
He also tells the story of retiree Victoria Switzer, who was working the phone bank one night:
One caller, Switzer remembers, said he couldn’t possibly vote for Obama and concluded: “Hang that darky from a tree!”
Is she wrong? It seems not, not that CNN will come out and say it - after all they need to be as PC as possible in this day and age. (more…)

Tell me about it - but who do you blame? The government? You could, but they don’t want to get involved - where I would go is my old favourite K.I.S.S.
If you do keep it simple when you think about these things you know where the problem lies - with the telecommunications companies in Canada. Basically put - there is no competition so they can do as they wish, and that is something they do do very well.
Toronto is fine - it has just about everything that any company could give, but Canada isn’t just Toronto, though they would think that it is.
In the UK they are bursting at the seams with 25Mb Broadband (and that is getting faster with 99% of the country covered) - so many here in Canada are still on 56k dial up and being charged the same as that 25Mb, why?
Open the airwaves and phone lines to real competition!

to something like - The Will Rhodes Cynic Page. Because - that is exactly what I am.
This story brought about a voluble “DUH!” as I read it. I cannot believe how dumb people can be sometimes - it really does amaze me. One of the Scary Movie’s Movie’s had on it, ‘I see Dumb people’ - quite apt!
Now you may ask why? (more…)

We all know that W Virginia is going to the polls tomorrow to anoint Hillary Clinton. It’s a given that she is going to win.
What was perturbing me was why wasn’t Obama out trying to get any vote for himself? Why would he just walk away from this State without a fight - not a bit of campaigning barring the odd TV advert. I was shocked - I would have thought that he would have gone for the jugular and organised a rampart defence or an all out attack!
Then I remembered I was English and he is fighting very similar to how the British beat all-comers when turning the world pink. (more…)

No - this is serious, a man who is willing to commit 150,000 troops to a far off country for 100 years says:
We stand warned by serious and credible scientists across the world that time is short and the dangers are great
Think he is talking about the poor troops who will be blasted to death in Iraq?
Wrong!
He talking about ‘Cap and Trade’ to reduce the carbon emissions that the US throws out each year.
Stuff the soldiers - we need the victory in Iraq.
Lost his bearings? Lost his marbles more like!

650 million people are now seen, in the eyes of the United Nations, equal to everybody else.
Adopted in 2006, and opened for signature in March last year it took effect on 3 May a month after the 20th nation ratified it - in this case Ecuador.
We have to thank Ecuador for that! And the other 19 nations that put their signatures to the treaty and, as is said in this story - it was fast for this kind of treaty to come into effect.
This is fast, officials say, reflecting the commitment of some nations to the treaty’s goals, as well as pressure from the disability lobby.
It is estimated that about 10% of the world’s population lives with some sort of disability - making disabled people the world’s largest minority.

Half his car should have been taxed? WTF!?
Explanation of what car tax is - it’s called the road fund license and you need to renew this each year or you are in for a heavy fine or losing your car. The costs vary you will have to read this link.
A man has sawn his car in half with an angle-grinder in protest at it being clamped outside his home.
Ian Taylor, from Tredworth, Glos, said the untaxed Ford Fiesta was parked on his drive with only part of a rear wheel poking out on to the pavement.
The 40-year-old builder said the vehicle was going to be scrapped anyway, but he wanted to make a point.
A spokesman for NCP Services said half of the car was parked on the road and should therefore have been taxed.

Seems so - at least sport is making people happy.
George Helms’ family had the urn holding his ashes strapped onto a car at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway where it rode during practice laps. Afterward they scattered some of the NASCAR fan’s ashes over the track so he could remain part of his favorite sport.
NASCAR? That’s just retarded!
